Originally from Wake Forest, Leanne decided to specialize in internal medicine because it offers the opportunity to care for the entire patient.
“I have done both inpatient medicine as a hospitalist and outpatient medicine as a PCP, and truly, I love both. Internal Medicine looks at the whole picture, which can be challenging and rewarding all at the same time,” she said.
She has had several rewarding experiences in her career.
“Overall, the experiences where I have formed relationships with patients and families and have walked with them through difficulty and hardships have been the most rewarding. There is nothing sweeter than holding the hand of someone as they walk through challenges in this life. It is always an honor,” she said.
Leanne lives with her husband, Chauncey, and her two sons, Dayton and Cole. They also have a merle goldendoodle, Cash, who is a “pandemic pup.”
She also has a passion for volunteering, helping her church with outreach ministries and also volunteering at her children’s school.
For Leanne, inspiration has a deeply spiritual connection.
“My faith in the Lord inspires me most. Love God and love others—if I can do that in my home and in my work, I feel like I have succeeded,” she said, citing the Bible as the most influential book she’s ever read.
When she’s not in the office, she enjoys traveling with family and friends, running and shopping. You may be surprised to learn that her dad is a current and original member of the beach music band, the Band of Oz.
