I’ve always been fascinated by the science of the human body, and that’s one reason I decided to follow in the footsteps of my grandfather, who was also a physician. I was born in Belgrade, Serbia and immigrated to North America at age 3, settling in Toronto. I’m thrilled to be practicing medicine in North Carolina.
The most rewarding experience I’ve ever had as a doctor occurred my first year in practice. I received a handwritten letter from a patient. He thanked me for taking the time to address his alcohol problem six months ago when no one else had. He said he took my advice and that day he completely turned his life around and continues to be sober. I have kept the letter to remind myself of the impact I’m capable of making in someone’s life. Making a difference is very important to me, which is why I love volunteering.
You may find it surprising that cake decorating is one of my favorite hobbies. I also love the outdoors, DIY projects and reading. My husband, Will, and I have been married for three years, and I consider my Australian labradoodle a member of the family.
