I’m from Fayetteville, and I enjoy working with the geriatric population. When I was a child, I loved to talk with my 97-year-old great-grandmother, Kate Jackson. That love has transitioned into the care that I provide to my patients each day. I love to hear their stories, manage chronic conditions, and help them journey through their golden years.
My most rewarding moment as a nurse practitioner happened a few months ago. One of my patients was alone in her apartment and she reported fatigue and had lower extremity edema. During my examination, I discovered that she had significant swelling and an irregular heart rhythm. I convinced the patient to go to the hospital. She had new onset atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure. She credited me for saving her life.
I volunteer with Watts Missionary Baptist Church – The First Aid Ministry. I feel that it is important to give back, provide health education information to those who may not have access to information, and help in a time of crisis.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, mother, father, brothers, and extended family. They are my support and backbone. During my offtime, I can be found at family gatherings, cooking, traveling, or just sitting at a table laughing and reminiscing.
I am learning to love camping. I have always been afraid of snakes, spiders, coyotes and any other various night creatures. My son joined the Cub Scouts a few years ago and we have learned to camp. Initially, it was very frightening, but I am learning to love the quiet beauty of nature.
